European Apples in Puff Pastry

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large European apples
  • 140 g puff pastry
  • Icing sugar or a mixture of sugar and cinnamon

PREPARING

  1. Wash the apples, cut them into transverse rings, and remove the core from each centre (you can use a small cutter or a shot glass).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry into a thin rectangle and cut it with a knife into strips about 1 cm wide.
  3. Thoroughly coat the apple rings in the sugar and cinnamon mixture if you choose this version before baking.
  4. Wrap each apple ring with a strip of puff pastry, threading it through the hole in the centre until the fruit is covered.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the apples for 20 minutes until the pastry becomes golden brown.
  6. After baking and cooling slightly, sprinkle the rings with icing sugar.
